The Rhône Valley which stretches rom Lyon to Marseille, encapsulates much of France’s renowned gastronomy and, not surprisingly, has the great wines to match.   Not as well known as Bordeaux and Burgundy, the exceptional wines of this region are increasingly awarded, celebrated and appreciated by les fines becs from across the globe. Before 1990, most Rhône wines were sold by prestigious négociants like Jaboulet and Chapoutier. Even the co-operatives, always strong in the Rhône, tended to sell in bulk to merchants. With the phenomenal success of Rhône wines came more estate bottling many of whom can be visited in their beautiful chateaux.

The Rhone wine region is divided into north and south:  The North is home to Syrah and the source of some very prestigious wines while in the south a multitude of varieties bask in the sunny climate to produce such celebrated wines as Chateauneuf-du-Pape.  Our wines of Ventoux and the Luberon are considered outlying districts of the Rhone wine region and these exciting wines from the valley’s hinterland are gaining traction.
