The Luberon is in blossom
Spring has arrived in the Luberon
When the cherry trees blossom in the Luberon it is a sign that Spring has arrived. Typically on a similar timing to the blossoms in Japan, this year they chimed exactly. They are a sign that the weather will be milder, it is the time for gardners to prepare their flower bed for a big May planting.
Provencal weather is ideal for cultivating many fruit trees especially cherry trees as the sunshine is optimal so you will find orchards scattered through the region. The best spots for taking photos of the cherry trees in blossom: just after the Pont Julien approaching the N900 and along the D3 past Menerbes heading towards Coustellet.
Spring will be brining other delights with its warmth: asparagus, strawberries, artichokes and fives to mention my favorites and in May the poppies will be raising their beautiful heads in the fields around Lacoste. Such a beautiful time of year.
